An elm tree, at the corner of one 30 first and seventh avenue, a very old tree dating back to a different harlem. The tree would become quite a spot of superstition for many of the atrical performers that would work on this street. In doing so, they ended up widening seventh avenue in 19 34, and in doing so, ended up cutting down the tree. But the story of this tree does not end there, because the stump stayed for many, many years, and then ended up at the apollo theatre where performers to this day rub the stump for good luck.
