The Importance of Honesty
He had some very unorthodox understandings of what the earliest Christians believed. And he was nevertheless quite orthodox in his own theological commitments. What you just find in his work is just honesty. He wasn't the only person that I knew that had an active faith and yet had what we consider untraditional views.
