The Gift Card Scam Is Playing Ugly Now

Criminals are doing pretexting, where theyare contacting people and saying, we're calling to notify you that your heat is going to be turned off. They'll say, just before the lunch or dinner rush, they'll say, your power's being shut off. Oh, no, it's too late to give us a credit card or anything like that, but you can pay us. And every one of these scams work the same way. They create an immediate sense of urgency followed by the only way you can pay is with various forms of gift cards.
