Not only did none of my students defect, which he thinks is what the protesters were absolutely expecting are that you know, you protest a white professor on the basis that he's a racist and it doesn't much matter what the reality is. He says if you're actually an excellent professor who really cares about your students, you develop relationships with them such that when liars come at you and say, you're this, they can say, no, actually I know this man and you're not. That is one of the pieces of that story that has largely been missed
