The Treaty on Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction
The high seas treaty has a few main objectives. The one that I think gets the most attention and will potentially be the most important is just this new approach to establish protected areas or parks in the high seas. Another key part of this treaty has to do with environmental impact assessments. Anyone who watches international policy closely knows that it can be very difficult to get people all on one accord and agree to something.
