What Are You Going to Do About It?
Learners treat coarse material as disconnected bits of knowledge. Part of the job of the teacher is to reduce that tendency. In some cases it actually is a kind of disconnected and it's pretty difficult to find a connection. And then you need to memorize. There isn't really much way around that, unless you prefer to be ignorant. Next point, learners have difficulty making sense of new ideas that are different from what they encountered in a text book. The whole reason they came to learn something is because they can't do it on one day. That's why people have difficulty interacting with new ideas like erfamiliarity or learning about foreign language vocabulary. It's not for us to expect
