There's this kind of tension around inateness and learning that has been part of debates around the evolution for a long time. How do you have something biologically evolved but also incredibly flexible? Yeah, so what's interesting about this class of models that combine evolution and learning is that you can start to account for those sorts of trade-offs. So I worked on models of how priors in Bayesian models of learning evolved biologically to support flexible learning systems.
