The Red Sea in the Old Testament
The sea of glass is also associated with the idea of evil, and that's familiar to us. So we shouldn't be surprised to see it picked up again here as a kind of as a cue for readers, again, to re orient ourselves back into the actual scene where this is taking place. The scenes of daniel seven and ezekiel one, of course, have integral literary links. In Revelation four six gives a picture of the stilling of the hellish waters from the heavenly perspective.
