"I found that I was just controlling everything. And then suddenly I had this wonderful opportunity, inadvertently, to be more free and spontaneous," he says. "The interesting thing is that the sort of programmed reaction is to go, oh, no, I've lost all my stuff." 'You ever get in an emergency, the average passerby, if they're a decent person, will probably help you in some way,' he adds.
