The way that you think about it is about the order of events, not as much as the actual distinct timestamps. If you want to talk about absolute time, you don't build it to your movie camera. You simply have a clock in your movie. And what that does is it makes the math so much simpler. simplicity is the key to being able to deal with complexity.
Leslie Lamport is a computer scientist & mathematician who won ACM’s Turing Award in 2013 for his fundamental contributions to the theory and practice of distributed and concurrent systems. He also created LaTeX and TLA+, a high-level language for “writing down the ideas that go into the program before you do any coding.”
