Technology combined with far-reaching government power, has concealed disunity among elites even more than is typical. No man with less power dares to defy the regime at all. But this apparent unity, born of fear, is not unity at all. True unity is provided by joint goals, usually with a transcendent component, what common loves. The regime has none such.
