I make a point of spoiling myself the days special to me. Doesn't have to be a big family event. I just take one day out of the year just for myself. And that's sort of my little treat to myself. It's my way off giving a big middle finger at my parents for all those years of ignoring my birthday. and sink, you know, i'm going to do it myself.
