He was charged with rape Armed violence and first-degree murder His bail was set at $450,000 and he was sent to the cook county jail to await trial. On June 16th 1982 a jury acquitted Steve linskitt on the charge of rape But on the first degree murder countlinskitt was found guilty. Three years later the illinois appellate court looked at the case and decided to reverse his conviction Contending that the proof of guilt was not legally sufficient. The state supreme court challenged the appellate court's decision Arguing that the evidence was in fact enough and they reversed the reversal
