The most interesting thing to me is that everybody starts by thinking about how to prevent bad data from getting into their systems. But what if that issue wasn't actually critical? What if the process should just continue? The date is just a little bit weird and we can work around it, or we should just notify somebody. It's important to think about the process that will allow you to know that something is going wrong.
