The Wave of the Future, Is It?

I think that recognizing, seating our sense of people's dignity in their individual person and not attaching it or attributing it to their race is worth celebrating. I have the autonomy to be able to live my life on my own terms. To the extent that there are societal and social problems that need to be addressed, even ones that disproportionately impact black people, the remedies to those problems are almost certainly not resting in whether or not they regard themselves as black. It can be harder to get to those remedies if the thing that most consumes us are the fact that these disparities exist at all.
