A Very Poor Way of Doing It Actually.
When the moon is a half moon, that means that the sun is illuminating it one way. And so with the information of how far the how far the the moon is, and also the angle, or one of the angles in that triangle, you can calculate the distance to the sun. That's how it was done, actually. Well, that was a very poor way of doingi doing it actually. No, a lot of logic. Not easy trig if you think about it.
