The Importance of Religion in Fantasy
The role that religion plays for Ren in particular, but throughout these books is something that is so interesting as well. There's a lot of thing thought especially in this book about sort of the afterlife and death and what it means to have different afterlives. I tend not to write magic that's not in some fashion religiously linked. And so then of course you are getting into those questions of like the afterlife. But we dive pretty deep into the metaphysics toward the end and it does kind of matter what's going on underneath everything.
