A lot of these types of stories are in this book, and I'm not going to ascribe this specifically to the Zen Buddhist mindset. It seems like there is a bit of a pride is not the right word, but kind of like padding yourself on the back for going deep enough. The main point here is that the harder we try to suppress negative emotions, the more we turn them up. We're not going to pretend that stuff doesn't get there, but we did just read the gap in the game. And I don't think it's just that this it's a small little story. So why do I find myself resisting this one? That's the thing there.
