The Importance of Randomness in Design Engineering

In your book Making Things Work, you write that whether or not an offspring will survive is mostly a function of chance due to the many possible wrong choices. I think understanding that affects how I think about the world and what I understand as being sort of effective approaches to the world. And cultural differences are manifest at root in the literatures of each country or each culture. You can contrast those with Russian literature based on suffering and German opera maybe or literature which is based upon suicide.
