Introduction
Mongol conqueror Chingis Khan stood victorious on the western bank of the river Indus with 50,000 soldiers in 1221. He had just defeated Jalal uddin, the Shah of Khwaraz. The battle took place near the town of Kalabag in present day Punjab. Across the river lay the richest country in the history of the world, India. A land that was groaning under foreign Islamic occupation because northern India was ruled by a Turkic Sultan.
