People who got insurance were much better off financially. They were less likely to have to borrow money from friends and family or skip paying other bills because of their health care expenses. But when we measured things like blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, we didn't detect any improvements in those chronic physical health outcomes. And this again caused some consternation among proponents of expanding health insurance.
