The Focus on Highway Design Is a Government Problem, Not a Safety Problem
Concentrating on highway design rather than vehicle design serves two important purposes of general motor's management. The work keeps three or four engineers busy at the proving ground. Safer highways obviously are paid for by the public, not by general motors. This is a traffic engineering problem and I think Ralph Nader would be very disappointed in the modern street safety movement.
