Mr. Kovey was often lone slaves from the wealthy plantation owners he wasn't wealthy but they they would loan him a slave so that he could break them basically and I think it's very interesting how Douglas describes him with this kind of serpentine imagery he slithers, hooks his head up from the corner of the field where he was hiding to see if the slaves were actually working when they were supposed to be. The longer you or we ignore the doing the work that needs to be done to rid ourselves of this in every way the harder our hearts will become says Ms. Jones.
