Can Catholics Be Universalists?
Justin Sean Coel has an interesting article at Al Kimmel's site, eclectic orthodoxy titled, Can Catholics Be Universalists? He makes a good case. I will point out that among other things, Father Rooney has a habit of insinuating again and again that the universalist tradition simply denies the existence of a hell. So maybe tradition is an aesthetic as Father Rooney might have us believe. The issue entirely comes down to doctrinal determinations. There have been no church councils since the seventh.
