Can CSE or an Epidural Really Provide Effective Labor Analgesia?
Mike: Jacqueline brought up a couple good studies, but I don't think this issue is settled by any means. Mike: The gambling study found that if you're in the first stage of labor with a CSE, your pain's going to be 1.4. If you're having epidural, it's going to been 1.9. Let's talk about the Goodman study; at 30 minutes, there was no difference in the median analog pay scales. But when you look at the overall patient satisfaction rate, it was 98% amongst both techniques. And let's talk about hearing delivery. You're going to puncture 100 Duras to save one negative catheter. It depends
