The Fed's Expectation for a Mild Recession

The Federal Reserve members acknowledge that their expectation is for a mild recession. This is the first time I've seen that. In fact, the Federal Reserve never expects a recession. They're always optimistic. Any recession that we've ever had has been a complete surprise to the Fed. If they're saying the recession is going to be mild, that probably means that they think it's going to be horrific.
