Ying Chong, the First Grocery Store in Chinatown
Ava's uncle Hang was one of the first merchants to set up a flourishing grocery store in Chinatown. The cooks at gambling parlors began buying their ingredients directly from him. Gambler's flush with winnings bought groceries for a little taste of home. Even the poorest workers could afford the cheaper cuts of meat, pig ears and pork trotters.
