Reading Biblical Narratives

CHAPTER

How to Read Biblical Narratives

We often run into trouble thinking that we know who God is and that makes us sort of read these biblical narratives in a quizzical fashion. That gets us into trouble instead of letting biblical narratives shape how we think about God. In reading the Gospels, let each Gospel writer inform how you think about Jesus - forget what you think you know about Jesus or who Jesus is supposed to be. And even try to set aside thinking that Jesus is God because all of those assumptions that you have about God, you'll unintentionally import on to Jesus.
