The Nazis lost 2 million votes and 34 Reichstag seats. Chancellor Papein reached out to Hitler, hoping that this defeat would encourage Hitler to do some coalition building. General von Schleicher now made his move. He believed he could form a successful coalition with the Nazis. But Hindenburg refused to plan and tasked Papein with forming a new government. The Fuhrer was more frustrated with his Fuhrer than ever.
