How to Deal With a Panic Attack?
People are afraid of flying for different reasons so for some people it's a fear of the plane crashing. For other people they are afraid of having a panic attack and not being able to escape. We can encourage people to experience those symptoms hyperventilate breathing really quickly or get lightheaded, dizzy or running on the spot to get their heart racing. And there are also strategies we can use with a fear of panicking that can be other strategies like cognitive strategies where we teach people to identify and challenge some of the thoughts underlying the fear. There are other tools we can use as well in addition to just exposure.
