Is There Trouble in the Horizon?

In the film, Jepetto takes his son Carlo to a church where he's going to plant a tree. But as they step out of the church, there are planes coming in the distance that are not necessarily enemy planes. They're just planes, you know, unloading their cargo. The one bomb that gets unloaded is the bomb that ends up hitting the church. So Carlo dies, the pinecone survives, and the pinecone is planted, which will be the tree.
