Discovery of a Unique Microbe Missing Mitochondria

Scientists at Charles University in Prague have found a new microbe in the feces of a pet chinchilla. This microbe, called monosurcomenoidys, is different from any other known eukaryote as it lacks mitochondria and utilizes oxygen-free pathways for energy production.
