The Transverse View Is a Good Tool for Beginners

The best view you'll ever have of any structure, and this includes a needle, is when your ultrasound beam is at 90 degrees to it. An orthogonal or perpendicular angle of incination gives you the clearest view. It is almost always going to be easier to see your needle if you move it more. Very steady, slow advancing is actually really hard to see on ultrasound.
