The Debate in the Tory Party
The debate in the Tory party is so feverish now that deep down they realize Brexit has been a catastrophe or they kind of half realize it. It's a very interesting stage in a failed revolution where the revolutionaries turn on themselves. You have that kind of low level immature debate which is partly about the borders and immigration again a kind of fantasy world utterly divorced from the needs of the economy. But you also lack a sensible debate about how do we make judgments about numbers and the labor force and public services. These are deep questions but instead you listen to the shouting match this week over the numbers rising. They've got to come down. It will be one of my missions.
