Renewables - What's on Your Mind About Costs?
Solar PV and onshore wind are now routinely undercutting new fossil fuel fired power generation costs. So the interesting thing for the renewable sector is that the cost metrics are lagging indicators of underlying commodity or general inflation changes. It takes time for steel and aluminium and polysilicon price increases to flow through into equipment prices, then again into the commissioning of projects which have longer lead times. That's I always say that the decarbonisation is an endlessly interesting topic with such a lot of value and such an important one.
