Gomitas vodarpet was the first person to record on paper folk music from small villages in armenia and preserve them for prosperity. But his own biography is chilling, as he never really recovers after being arrested during the geneside. He survives and winds up moving to paris but spends the rest of his life in and out of mental institutions.
