How Deep Breathing Can Help You Relax When You're Stressed

Stress kicks your sympathetic nervous system into high gear, making your heart beat faster. Breathing is both an autonomic system you don't have to think about and a voluntary function you can control. Studies show that when a bunch of people are all asked to do the same thing, they tend to sink up their movements. Sometimes their breathing synchronizes and their heart rates match.
