The Transformation of Divine Salvation in Dante

The nature of Virgil being a pagan does that have something to do with the transformation you talked about that occurs within him even as the mentor or guide figure? I mean, this is hugely debated by Dante scholars. Virgil himself is in limbo. He tells us and in bow is a place right on the edges of the Inferno which is a peaceful tranquil place actually that has some light. There are other great pre-Christian poets and thinkers and poets and thinkers from other faiths as well. And whilst Virgil says he will be returning to limbo, it seems to me that that is him being humble about his state.
