Transitioning the Global Economy Away From Oil, Gas, and Coal
Transitioning the global economy away from oil and gas is going to take longer than we'll be able to continue producing affordable petroleum products. "This planet simply cannot support 8 billion human inhabitants without the amount of energy we now derive from fossil fuels," he says. There aren't many viable options for replacing base load power generation, which today is primarily enabled by burning coal. Unless there's a breakthrough in deep geothermal or some other new technology that I'm not aware of, my hypothesis is that the coming energy crisis will force the world to realize that nuclear energy is our only remaining viable option.
