Adam was created as a mortal creature. We should not imagine that he was created immortal and then the fall changed things. The tree of life really symbolizes the kind of life they were made for. But in Adam we have fallen short of the glory of God. And there's nothing magical about the fruit. It's what the Lord had put it there to represent. A life that is extended from the hand of God, the life of God,. blessing of God, immortality, embodied glory.
