Star hid the true reason for her mental anguish and instead made up a story of a failed romance. At age 19, Star was voluntarily committed to a Boston area mental hospital for nine days. The young woman fell in love with being on a cruise ship. Out in the open ocean, she felt like she could escape her troubles and just enjoy life.
