The Origins of the Pyramids

The ancient Egyptians would grieve their loved ones and more experienced grief at the death of their loved ones. God does seem to let the dead sometimes have contact with the living that occurs across human cultures. The Giza pyramids, as far as why they don't have texts in them were made very early. And so the pyramid texts themselves communicate the idea that the pyramids you find them in are tombs.
