Joan Dydian's estate sale was the opposite of Elizabeth Wertzoll's, which also happened recently. This is people putting a value on a writer who I think throughout her life was deemed the essence of cool and has an incredible body of work. The kind of people who can afford to buy the shells and the pebbles for $10,000 are the people who are going to display it in their home or show it to people.
