What Drives Company Value?

A stock simply represents fractional ownership of a corporation. The reason that a stock has value is because that stock has a legal claim on that company's assets and profits indefinitely. When you buy a stock in a company, you become a part owner of that business. If those profits go up, broadly speaking, the value of that stock should also go up.
