Lewis Colman: Hyperventilatory breathing is not a real breath hold because you've blown off CO2 so you've retarded the curve of the oxygen dissociation curve. People don't understand that, right? So they think that if they could hold their breath for three or four minutes or five minutes in some cases because they hyperventilate, they don't realize they've actually just shortened the oxygen dissociative curve. However, most people won't do that because they don't want to put in the work and get really good at it.
