The Narviza Expedition

Two boats with Cabazza de Vaca landed near Galveston. Four men would be dispatched almost immediately down the coast and a dozen more led by Castillo and Durantez who would leave in the spring of 1529. The survivors from the two rafts would eventually select a location to spend the winter, but as with the men on the Isle of Misfortune, the only thing that was waiting for them was hunger and sickness and death.
