The UMW and the American Indians in the Mines

Despite numerous atrocities, the minors of the UMW held out. They viewed what was happening as a struggle for their very survival. Eventually through blood toilentiers, the miners of West Virginia forced their employers to the table. By 1901, this very new union had become the largest union in the country.
