The Biden Administration's Plan to End Title 42

The Biden administration had planned to end Title 42 in late 2022, right after the midterms. But a coalition of Republican-led states managed to get a federal judge to prevent officials from ending it. The Supreme Court said it would suspend the lower court order that found Title 42 to be illegal on December 27. With the end of the federal emergency over COVID-19, Title 42 just kind of went away. Customs and Border Protection will begin processing migrants under Title 8 of U.S. immigration law as early as May 2023.
