A group of crew members mysteriously disappear for 24 hours and then crash in the Mojave Desert. The authorities are puzzled and are trying to unravel the mystery. They discuss the possibility of the crew members losing consciousness and not remembering anything. The chapter ends with a nurse commenting on one of the pilots' distant look in his eyes.
