The Tyranny of Metrics is what drives people's behavior. We need to stop paying people a lot and get lots of publications because you know what? We don't really know if they're that good. The second thing is that we have to be able to talk about an idea, not just the paper. This is going back to a different world when there was no bureaucracy.
